Art of Creative Journaling with Jill Carter
Saturday 16th April : 10:00 – 16:00
Jill will bring along some of her rich archive of journals, memory and photo books to inspire exchange and conversation. The aim will be to share ideas, processes and materials and experiment with subject areas, composition and visual narratives, bringing together, for example, drawings, photographs, writing and text, found and made objects, textiles and sewing, assemblage, collage, storytelling and reportage.
What you might consider to bring:
A book in which to work:
for example, a journal, sketchbook, note/exercise book, diary, papers, or perhaps an old secondhand book, novel or text, referencing your interests.
A collection of curious stuff:
gather a bag of things that inspire you and relate to your area of interest. Ephemera could include photographs, letters, travel maps, postcards, drawings, writings, poetry and old books or pages; reports/statistical papers/information/lists/maps; drawings/copies of paintings/collage materials/newspaper articles/magazines/reports; textiles, found objects/collectables, tactile materials, curiosities, etc.
bring interesting mixed media materials – papers, inks, pens and brushes, crayons, pencils and paints, rulers, gesso etc, stamps, fixing methods, stapler, glues, tapes, pins, sewing kit and machine, etc, but do bring whatever your like to work with, pens/pencils/markers, camera/phone, if applicable, etc.
