Coastal Scenes with Penny Price
Wednesday 20th April : 10am to 4pm
For painters who wish to take their work in a different direction. We will look at creating different textural effects combining the use of an assortment of materials including tissue, handmade papers, newspaper print, and paste with acrylic paint. Subject matter will include coastal scenes from your own sketches and photographs. Some experience with acrylic painting is desirable.
Please bring the following:- Acrylic paints (Titanium white, ultramarine blue, cerulean blue, cadmium red, alizarin crimson, cadmium yellow, lemon yellow, yellow ochre, burnt sienna, burnt umber) Bristle Brushes – round and flat; Painting or palette knife for mixing paint; Photos of coastal scenes; Sketches of coastal scenes; Sketch pad and pencil; Apron, kitchen roll, scissors;
Pre-workshop preparation – Select a few photos of coastal scenes for reference material. Work up a few ideas in pencil in a sketch book e.g. compositional options, line drawing. Avoid any subjects which involve complicated drawing so as to minimise drawing time and maximise painting time on the day.
